Julie K. Statz

Dr. Julie Statz joined the Parkway Periodontal Group team in 2008. Originally from Colorado, she completed her undergraduate education at the University of Denver and earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Colorado School of Dentistry. She then continued her post-doctoral specialty education in Periodontics at the University of Iowa. Dr. Statz became a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology in 2009. Dr. Statz has been a guest lecturer on periodontal issues for several organizations in the Des Moines community. Dr. Statz is an active member of the American Academy of Periodontology, American Dental Association, Iowa Dental Association, American Association of Women Dentists, and Iowa Society of Periodontology.

Thomas A. Statz

Dr. Thomas Statz has been practicing periodontal and dental implant care in Iowa since 2004. Originally from Wisconsin, he began his collegiate education at the University of Iowa in 1996. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Iowa and continued there to receive his post-doctoral education in Periodontics. Dr. Statz became a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology in 2008. Dr. Statz is an active member of the American Academy of Periodontology, American Dental Association, Iowa Dental Association, and Iowa Society of Periodontology. He was the past-president of the Iowa Society of Periodontics.

Brandon K. Peterson
DDS, Diplomate to the American Board of Periodontology
Dr. Peterson is from Williamsburg, IA. He received his undergraduate degree from Buena Vista University in Storm Lake. Dr. Peterson was selected as one of nine nationwide recipients of a four-year Navy Health Professions Scholarship with which he attended the University of Iowa, College of Dentistry. After graduating in 2004, Dr. Peterson then completed a hospital based General Practice Residency at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, MD. There he received advanced training in trauma, surgical procedures and in treating medically compromised patients. After his initial residency Dr. Peterson went on to serve as the only dental officer on the USS Cleveland LPD-7. During this time on the USS Cleveland, Dr. Peterson completed an 8 month deployment to the Persian Gulf Region.
Dr. Peterson received his periodontal training at the Medical University of South Carolina where he served as the chief resident and received his Masters of Science in Dentistry. After 11 years serving as a Dentist in the US Navy in various locations around the country and the world, Dr. Peterson decided to head home to Iowa and join Parkway Periodontal Group.
Dr. Peterson has presented research at meetings for the International Association for Dental Research, the American Association of Endodontists and the American Academy of Periodontology.
Dr. Peterson is a Diplomate to the American Board of Periodontology and is a member of the Des Moines Dental Society, Iowa Dental Association, American Dental Association, American Academy of Periodontics and the Academy of Osseointegration.
